Zuma Energía acquires the Potrero Solar Park, in Jalisco

The acquisition increases the installed capacity of Zuma Energía to more than 1.1 GW of renewable energy in the country.

As part of the business strategy of Zuma Energía (“Zuma”), led by State Power Investment Corporation (“SPIC”) subsidiary, China Power International Holding (“CPIH”), today announced the acquisition of Parque Solar Potrero (“Potrero”) with 296 MW installed capacity located in Jalisco, transaction that was completed on Friday, December 16 of this year.


Zuma highlighted that the purchase of Potrero strengthens SPIC's vision of global growth in Mexico and Latin America, being the first of many similar transactions in the region in the following years, and demonstrates the continued commitment and support from SPIC to the generation of clean and renewable energy, as well as confidence in the Mexican economy.


David Yang, President and CEO of Zuma assured that through the closing of this transaction the ability of the company is increased to supply renewable, reliable and safe energy for the benefit of the national industry. For his part, Ramón Salcedo, Investment Director commented "with this acquisition, we continue to believe in the immense potential of Mexico for the generation of renewable energy, achieving a major milestone in the industry by surpassing one gigawatt of installed renewable capacity.”


SPIC is willing to work closely with local governments and co-invest with private investors in Mexico and neighboring Latin American countries to reduce carbon emissions, implement energy efficient technologies, distributed generation and storage as a complement to the integration of large-scale renewables, as well as being a key ally to achieve a sustainable and affordable energy transition for the improvement of society and the economy.
